My Niece
By Darrell | July 21, 2008
I went over to my parent’s house today to visit my wonderful niece, Coral. I decided to take my brand new Canon 30D along for the trip. Let me start by saying that I love absolutely Coral. She’s perfect. Extraordinarily cute, playful, likes to tickle people, and gives me hugs and kisses (if only I could convince women my own age to do that, haha). She always surprises me and this meeting was no exception. She doesn’t say much but picks up words in random situations. I pull out my camera and I hear “Cheese!” (She loves cheese, which is another reason I can’t help but love this little brat). “Cheese!” she says. The kid knows a camera. I think I have a future shooter here… hmmm…. free labor?
Here is the result of our impromptu photo shoot:

Like a gnat to bright lights, she hurls herself at the flash

What’s Been Going On With Aubert Films??
By Darrell | June 24, 2008
It’s pretty obvious that the Blog has suffered in the last few months! I’ve been very busy. I’ve started the launch of a new company (more on that soon), moved into my own office downtown, and worked on some of the most amazing weddings and corporate videos! So to get back on track, I’ve posted some pictures below outlining what has been going on with Aubert Films

My friend Andy Liu Chang from Beijing flew in to hang for a few days

Steve and Danielle - May 31st Trailer
By Darrell | June 6, 2008
I had the pleasure of shooting Steve and Danielle’s wedding this past weekend in Rehoboth Beach, DE. I’ve never been to Rehoboth before but when I got there I loved the small beach town atmosphere. I also was shooting with 1st class photographer, Mark Gardner. It’s always a great time shooting with him because he has so much energy. Check out his photos on his new blog. The beautiful flowers were provided by Bayberry Flowers and the Bride’s and Bridesmaid’s hair was done by Made Ya Look Salon. The reception was held at the members only and highly exclusive, Rehoboth Beach Country Club. What a great location! The main ball room was perfectly lit and the view of the ocean was incredible.
Below is the trailer I’ve put together for Steve and Danielle. Make sure to leave your comments!

Olympus - SBE Demo
By Darrell | February 19, 2008
While my concentration with Aubert Films is wedding videography, I take on several big corporate video jobs over the year. They’re a lot of fun and are handled totally different than a typical wedding video. Anyways, one of my biggest clients is Olympus America. Most of you know them as the “camera company” while in reality most of their income is from medical imaging devices. One project I finished for Olympus was on the Single Balloon Enteroscope System. Basically its a long tube with a camera on the end that can also hold various tools like cutters and such. This tube is fed through your mouth or rear-end into your digestive tract to look for any problems. It’s actually a very cool tool and anyone who’s ever gotten a colonoscopy has been subjected to this device (Not Me! haha).
Anyways, here’s a little “trailer” I put together for your viewing pleasure.
WARNING: If you’re easily squeamish, don’t even bother watching!

HD Format War Finally Over!
By Darrell | February 17, 2008

For those of you who have been following the HD format war between Sony and Toshiba, one side is poised to claim victory. This past week Toshiba ceased all production on their HD-DVD format clearing the way for Sony’s Blu-Ray format.
So what does this mean for you, my clients? Anyone who buys the HD option for any Aubert Films productions can now receive an actual HD copy of their wedding. Until now, this was not feasible but with Blu-Ray poised to become the standard I can now deliver these discs to you. Anyone interested in adding HD to their package, contact me for more details.

The Great Debaters!
By Darrell | February 5, 2008
Something my friends will tell you is that I really enjoy debating. I like to debate anything, even if I don’t agree with my side of the argument! Politics, Religion, HD; all the things you’re not supposed to debate about. I was the captain of the Emmaus High School debate team my senior year. It was a lot of fun, I really enjoyed debating the different arguments. I was actually considering being a trail lawyer after high school!
Anyways a few weeks ago I ran into my old debate coach at my local starbucks and she asked me to return and judge the division finals. Obviously I couldn’t turn this down. Check out some of the pics below. Congrats to Freedom High School for the victory over Parkland!
